We read or hear the news about the suicides of farmers. There are many reasons accountable for the death of farmers. One major reason is bankruptcy. Why does farmer borrow loans? There are many reasons - because of the unproductiveness of land and because of uncertain rains and because of no guarantee of yield. The farmer wishes to marry off daughters at the best suitable family and the conformities of society demand dowry. Moreover, the rich wish to marry in all affluence. Some hire D.J. and some expensive bands. The poor ape them blindfoldedly by borrowing loans. Yashwantraoji Gadakh and Prashant Patil Gadakh contemplated on the problem why is it so? Accordingly Yashwant Samajik Prathistan organized the activity; Pledge of Simple Marriage. Dance Bands, felicitations and affluence in marriages set the farmers in never ending vicious cycle of debts. The farmer is born in debts, grows in debts and dies under the burden of death. To avoid this, Yashwant Samajik Pratishtan organized the event of Pledge of Simple Marriages on the eve of birthday of Honble Yashwantraoji Gadakh under the presidency of the then Vidhansabha Speaker, Diliprao Walse Patil. Thousands of younger boys and girls took the pledge to marry in simple manner without bereaving the family of its happiness and the Pratishtan pocketed one such great achievement.
